“This is the best thing that I have seen all day”, said one secondary school MFL visitor to the WebSwami stand. And no, for all you cynics out there, that wasn’t said first thing in the morning, but right at the end of day 3!
Located in the Software Zone, we entertained a stream of guests from opening on day 1 to an exhausted close on day 4, with all demo stations often fully utilized with those keen to experience the latest in web-based language learning technology.
WebSwami’s unique straight-to-server webcam recording was universally well received, with our twists on standard e-learning exercises – such as our video-to-video matching exercises – also a big wow factor.
As expected, teachers literally swooned at the Marker interface. Personalised video feedback, a centralized task list and a colour-coded marker grid all in an attractive and intuitive GUI were things that they had all dreamed about, but did not expect to see on a cold January day in London.
As well as entertaining so many visitors to our stand it was also a great chance for us to network with other exhibitors, especially LMS/VLE developers. Fully integrated with Moodle, we are currently working on integration with Blackboard and WebCT amongst others.
Overall it was a superb show for us and the public launch of WebSwami could not have been more successful. We’re now busy following up with all the end-users and resellers that are looking to make WebSwami a big part of their future.
See you at the next show!
Held every January at Olympia, London, BETT is the world’s largest educational technology show (www.bettshow.com).
